Okay, a little background on this post... I was trying to train with a tank, learning how to be a full healer... until the very poor behavior started on the part of other guild members (NOT OUR GUILD) he played with. Long and short of it, had to report this strange fellow for threats and very colorful insults once he learned that i was a female. 'nuff said. My poor healing was due to lack of experience, not a darth of breast tissue. Anyway, this article caught my eye.

Yeah. Also, females are supposedly the majority now as far as gamer numbers go. The times I have been harassed are thankfully fairly low due to guilds and games that didn't require voice and an online handle (Khellendrathas) that is gender-neutral.
I have played games on PC like Left 4 Dead and Killing Floor set on public with mic and never had issues. But I assume it is because I neither highly exceled nor impeded progress.
If you ever need assistance learning how to heal, I'd help and I'm sure other guildies would be happy to as well.

I've never understood how weird some guys get when they either think or find out someone in game is female. You get the ones who want to "flatter" them and give them everything they own...then you get the chauvinists.
I'd be happy to let you practice your healing with my alt, he's (Careoc) level 30 atm. Probably would need to level him up a bit more before it was any real practice for you tho. =P

I particularly like the type that when their highly-skilled attempts to woo their chosen lady is declined (no matter how gently), they automatically go into "what the fuck, you slutty-slut" rage.

This is one reason I usually play male characters. People tend to assume I'm male and just treat me as another human being. And it's why I look for guilds where the leader and/or officers are women. That kind of crap isn't tolerated in them.

Is it just me or is Mike's text always different from everyone else's in every post he makes? It just appears different. Anyways OT: I've actually masqueraded as a female in WoW a while back just to see the kinds of reactions I would get. No voice coms, so everyone in my guild kinda assumed I was female. It seemed that I received better treatment just for being "female" but that could just be my luck.

In my past experiences, I was either treated better for being female but if I put one toe out of line (didn't respond positively to a pickup line, thought that rape joke wasn't funny, missed the cue to kick the boss, etc) suddenly I was the worst bitch ever and I was probably fat and a slut and they hope I get raped, etc etc. That's with the general public, so luckily I was able to usually extract myself from those situations after a few choice words and I usually found a good group of people in whatever game I happened to be playing but man, it's rough. I used to work at EB Games and customers constantly tried to get me to jump through hoops to demonstrate my knowledge for whatever game series I liked or recommended. Just leave me aloneeeeeeeeeee.
And don't even get me started about my experiences on OkCupid back in the day. (Spoilers: it included stalkers, rape threats, and showing up at my work! (from separate people, no less))

Hello! Right? ...stupid Bushi punk. He wasn't even in the guild that the nice person I was training with was at the time. The 'nice guy' joined Bushi... Friends don't let friends play with douchey bushi. Tried to warn him. Thanks for the kind words. All my years mmoing you think I would get used to the number of tools one finds.

Not my fault entirely but still, once I died everyone died. A comment was made, something like ' give the lady a break, she's new' and he went off, others went off in defense, which proved his 'point' that women just f up the game for the guys... oy. Then he started harassing me in passing, f'd up my chi on a couple of trade runs and that was it. I tattled. Stupid bushi.
