So what did everyone think? I didn't get to play too much, but I am excited. What I did play I enjoyed very much. I enjoyed my little starter tidbits of gathering and crafting. I was very sad to log in after my Master Baiter escapades to find all my fish had spoiled But it was super cool to just walk up to trees and chop them and butcher all the cute animals. I really like running around and gathering, perhaps that's weird but I've always enjoyed that as compared to fighting. As for fighting though, I REALLY enjoyed stomping around and smashing things into the ground as a berserker. I don't know if it's the game, the fact berserkers are huge, or the fact my resolution is 2560x1440, but everything was freaking tiny. A lot of the times I didn't know if i was hitting things or what was hitting me (FU tiny bees!) but I still had a blast with the chaos that was WOOKUMS SMASH. I guess, I played just enough to reinforce my inner hype-machine, but not so much that I can say with confidence that I know I will play this game say... longer than ArcheAge. So... thoughts?

Concerns: PvP: PvP is really late game Heavily penalized for flagging up on someone Bounty system may skew people into it into there being no world PvP besides GvG
PvE: There are no real dungeons per se just open world encounters and areas (Not really a problem for me since I don't really care for dungeons but I know some people do)
End Game: The end game to me seems to require you to be in a decent sized guild to fully enjoy the content (Think fancy cats assemble). As it stands now we don't even have enough to field a full clan nontheless a working guild.
Cash Shop: Prices: Really concerned about this the prices in the cash shop are too damn high. 32 dollars for an outfit is way too much, as well the outfits give stats and perks to them which is a no no unless you can get them in game without paying for them. Pets: We're unsure if you can get pets in game without buying them from the cash shop. Mostly because they are really OP, they loot for you and have other abilities such as finding hidden players near you. So they kinda seem must have.
What I enjoyed: Parkour!: Run around doing all the not things, this game is better for that than Archeage for sure.
Combat: The combat in this game is really satisfying even though it may not be as sophisticated as something like Blade and Soul
Grass: I love me some detailed grass to run around in, hell you can even put on a ghillie suit and RP you are grass
Too much stuff to do: There is too much stuff to do so the game should keep me occupied for at least a while.

What I like: Combat: I like the combo system, explosions feels nice. Also Mounted combat and climbing make things interesting.
Progression: Be it horses, gear, skill points or housing and cities there is always room to improve and something to do.
The Crafting/Node/housing system: I loved playing this as mmo sims-strategy game and the crafting is very satisfying and useful. Probably my favorite part of the game.
Concerns: Lack of Player to Player trading: The system it eliminates pay-to-win and gold spamming while at the same time making crafting more valuable for the player. However this also prevents you from sharing your crafted goodies with your friends/guildies and inhibits any group projects(One of few things I miss from Archage). Still torn on the subject.
PvP: Not really interested in the flagged pvp, but GvG sounds really cool if we can get/join the numbers.
PvE: Boss scrolls seem like the only real end game pve(aside from grinding) at launch and I can see those getting stale after a while. That said they will be adding world bosses and apparently some non-instanced underground dungeon~esque places with random portals in the desert sometime after launch.
Other: Gender locked classes: While it doesn't bother me too much I find it kind of silly.
Though I don't really care about the lore, I find the voice acting to range from surprisingly good(on rare occasion) to hilariously bad.
TL;DR: Really looking forward to launch, but the lack of diverse end game murder death could potentially limit my stay.

So I really want this game to fail financially. It won't, but I wish it would. These publishers need to stop doing this with these games. I guess it makes the most financial sense to milk it for all it's worth while it's new, because MMO players tend to be fickle and very few stay past a few months. Nowadays these games aren't made to be sustainable, since that wouldn't make any sense. The best thing you can do is license a game from Korea or China, hire a couple of people to "localize" it for the west, and sell pre-orders (with headstart access of course). Fill up a cash shop with borderline pay-to-win stuff, and watch the game slowly kill itself as the money rolls in. The nickel-and-dime strategy in this game is crazy too, since it's more like $9 for a pet and $32 for a camo-suit. I'm gonna have a hard time casually breeding cats when it's at least $18 per go. It would be cheaper to buy real cats. Things I was looking forward to: - having and breeding cats
- small scale PvP
- open world parkour nonsense with friends
Things I was looking forward to that are potentially ruined by the cash shop or dumb gameplay mechanics: - having and breeding cats
- small scale PvP
That said, good game 10/10 will play. p.s. "soft caps" suck.

On the pets did they remove all ability to buy them with Silver? I know they got rid of the quest, but there was an NPC that you could build up affinity to buy them from too. In addition they can be sold onto the Auction House for Silver, which anything above Rank 1 will have to be bought from regardless.

The only way you'll be able to buy them with silver will be from the marketplace in a few months after the release

I really wish these games would make ways to obtain any items that influence core gameplay mechanics outside the cash shop. I don't care if it's stupidly tedious and laborious, as long as there was a secondary way to get them. i.e. collect 1000 lizard feathers, and craft them into keychains that you can trade to a man on a remote island for an item that lets you collect sheep tears which you can craft into a potion that you need 100 of to grow a seed that costs an arm and a leg, but will produce a flower that you can give to a randomly spawning NPC in exchange for a basic pet token. but more grindy. Then keep all the cool looking pets on the cash shop.

Sorry, I can't condone using sheep tears for anything beyond their intended purpose. *scottish pride*

I dont think ive been approved to join the guild but im going to post anyways lol.
I really enjoy the combat. I havent played blade n soul or archeage (never even heard of this one before today tbh) but ive played other MMOs like guildwars 1 and 2, a little wow (i lvled up to 30 once!!) and some others im sure im forgetting. Also love ARPGs (im a diablo slut) so i have other RPG and game experience. I find this combat pretty refreshing (even compared to guildwars 2) because its frantic and action packed, some in part by the keyboard combos, and i just cant wait to get my hands on it again.
Super happy about the native controller support, will be nice to hook the game up to the 55in 4k tv in the living room and just game on the couch sometimes.
Crafting is great so far, a bit over whelming (sure once i learn what each profession does by heart, it will be less hunting around) but the in-game wiki type help is helpful (sometimes... wtf is wrong with the search bar?) so with time it will all come natural im sure. Still need to learn what needs to be farmed by hand vs workers (or maybe im missing something), but again, this will come in time.
Cash shop is meh. Im used to paying retail for my games so its not so pay to winish. But i guess thats the nature of MMOs now days, but i do agree, the price is too damn high. Especially because im paying retail for a copy of the game. (and honestly 100 dollars isnt something i usually throw at a game, but with the pre order bonuses, i think its worth it.)
Game performance was pretty good. Still made my pretty decent pc sweat, hope the devs optimize it more. 8gb r9 390 should be able to run this game at ultra settings on a 900p monitor with no sweat. Just bought an SSD two days ago, but i dont see ill see much improvement as far as fps goes. Still getting 45-60fps with everything on ultra, but still.
Agree, gender locked classes seem silly to me as well.
This is it for now, maybe if im accepted into the guild ill post my launch impressions haha.
